Continuing the discussion with a bit of optimism:

Michael Flynn Pleads Guilty to Lying to the F.B.I.

Can you say FLIPPED?

I was talking about this at slack but I'll bring it over here, too....

1) Can Trump pardon Flynn right now or does he have to wait for a certain step of the process like after sentencing?
2) If he can pardon Flynn now or soon, my understanding is that Flynn can't take the Fifth and so could be compelled to testify, but at that point can Flynn testify differently than what he has said in his plea deal without facing perjury charges?
3) Even if Flynn could get charged with perjury at that point, could Trump just pardon him for that, too? Like a "it's pardons all the way down" situation?

I did read that Trump has at least one air-tight way out of this for him and his friends -- he pardons everyone involved, resigns, and then Pence pardons Trump. Provided Pence is in the clear, that's the end of it.

Will Trump try to pardon himself, via tweet? Probably.

But if there's bullet-proof evidence of some major crime (like, treason or something), doesn't Congress have the power to overturn a pardon?

Is Trump's legal team comprised of lawyers he trusted from his business endeavours? I get the impression that they're in over their head. Dealing with a full blown U.S. Justice Dept criminal investigation is a completely different beast from bullying small contractors and working on Trump brand licencing deals.

The headline reeled me in with a promise cathartic glee, and then punched me in the gut. It belongs in this thread:

Trump is cracking up.

There's a press conference today, where women are accusing Trump of sexual misconduct. This will likely propel Roy Moore to victory, because Republicans being Republicans.

Our very bad president just sexually harassed Kirsten Gillibrand on twitter. As he's once again under fire for sexual misconduct. And stumping for a sexual predator. And Cat Person was just published.

Hi, wirthling, I'm a lawyer, here is law.

1) He can pardon him.
2) It depends on the scope of the pardon. But even if it didn't cover perjury for changing his tune, Trump could always pardon for that in the future.
3) Oh, I see. Yes.

Of course, a functional Senate would not put up with such horseshit but ... there are only so many Doug Joneses.

Alabama elections were only the fifth story on the UK NEWS!!! AND IT'S MORNING HERE! I've since found out the result. The last I saw was Moore riding about with a mate, looking for the other two horsemen of the apocalypse.

He didn't find them, happily. I'm glad we're caught up. Try not to Brexit anything before I wake up in the morning.

What the shit. Black women supported Clinton at a rate higher than any other demographic. You should probably lay this at anyone else's feet before you get around to their lack of enthusiasm for a shitty candidate with her own history of race-baiting (despite which, again, they supported in overwhelming fashion).

Sooo, the GOP and the Right Wing machine step up their efforts to discredit the Mueller investigatin to the public, allowing for Trump to replace him and his team with a version with less ‘bias’.

Or, GOP and the Right Wing machine attempt to sow doubt into the Mueller investigation so that any actual results can be washed out of the public consciousness quickly.

Edit: I guess he could fire Rosenstein, instead, as a play for “balance.”
